KAM Holding CEO and Wife Receive Prestigious Chieftaincy Titles in Omu-Aran Kingdom

International business executive, Dr. Kamoru Yusuf, MON, and his wife, Dr. Iyadunni Bolanle Yusuf, are set to be honoured with distinguished chieftaincy titles in recognition of their sustained contributions to national development and community service.

Arrangements have been finalized by the Olomu of Omu-Aran Kingdom in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti, FNITP, to bestow the traditional titles of Bobagunwa and Erelu on the couple.

Dr. Yusuf, widely known as KAMWIRE, serves as the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of KAM Holding Limited. His wife, Dr. Iyadunni Bolanle Yusuf, is the founder of Mistifik Global Resources and the Threshold of Hope Foundation, organizations known for their social and developmental initiatives.

A formal letter announcing the honours stated that the appointments were based on the couple’s consistent support and meaningful contributions to the growth of the Omu-Aran community and to humanitarian causes beyond the locality.

The chieftaincy installation ceremony is scheduled for Friday, December 29, 2023, at the palace of the Olomu of Omu-Aran, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti, Akolade Agboluaje, Olomu Effon II. The event will take place by 10:00 a.m. at Government Secondary School, Omu-Aran.

PROFILE OF DR. KAMORU YUSUF MON, FCSN, FNMS— BOBAGUNWA OF OMU-ARAN

Born on October 16, 1968, Kamoru Ibitoye Yusuf hails from the Iwo community in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, Nigeria. He lost his mother at an early age and was raised by his father, who provided strong guidance and early grounding in Islamic education.

Yusuf completed his primary and secondary education in Iwo and Iwo-Owu towns, concluding his formal schooling in 1980. He later spent seven years learning the trade of metals and metal derivatives. During this period, he also pursued part-time studies, building strong literacy skills and developing into a disciplined and knowledgeable businessman.

He went on to establish himself as a leading distributor for several well-known companies in Nigeria’s wire and steel sector. These included Oshogbo Steel Rolling Mill, Oscar James Nigeria Limited, Nigeria Wire Industry in Lagos, Adediran Steel and Wire Industry in Ilesa, Ola-Oluwa Aina Wire Industry in Oshogbo, United Wire Industry in Kaduna, and Sanusi Brothers in Ibadan, among others.

Driven by determination, self-discipline, and a clear vision, Yusuf entered the manufacturing sector in 1997, focusing on the production of nails and other wire products. At the time, this segment was largely dominated by foreign-owned firms for more than four decades. Within ten years of operation, his enterprise had grown into one of Nigeria’s leading producers of steel and related products.

Landmark achievements

1. He is the first Nigerian to establish a Manufacturing company in the South East Region of the People’s Republic of China in 2008 which eventually led to hoisting of the highly respected Nigeria’s National Flag therein.

2. Kamoru is the first Nigerian Manufacturer to successfully produce Galvanised Roofing Nails in West Africa as well as the first African to build the largest integrated Cold Roll Mill Complex in Nigeria.

3. His Long Products manufacturing plants have the highest capacity to produce liquid steel in Nigeria and the brand name KAMWIRE is well known throughout Nigeria Wire and Steel Industry.

4. The brand has won many NIS and SON CAP awards for quality from the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) and his companies is the largest employers of labour in Kwara State and in the Steel sector across Nigeria.

5. Kamoru Yusuf has business presence in about six locations across Kwara State, Kakuri in Kaduna State, Ogwashi-Ukwu in Delta State, Sokoto State, Kirikiri, Abule-Oshun, Ikeja and Victoria Island Areas in Lagos state, Igbafa village, Sagamu Area of Ogun State, Warri in Delta State, Oron in Akwa Ibom State, Ayetoro in Ogun State, Wuxi and Suzhou in Republic of China and in Mumbai in the Republic of India.

6. He was awarded honorary doctorate degrees by the Concept University in the United Kingdom, University of Calabar, South-South, Nigeria, The Osun State University, South-West Nigeria and the Kwara State University, Malete, North-Central Nigeria respectively.

7. He is a serving National Council member and Vice President of the prestigious Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, (MAN), South-West zone, member of the Wire World, as well as the current Chairman of Basic Metal, Iron and Steel and Fabricated Metal Products Sectoral Group of MAN.

8. He sits on the board of federal government agencies such as; National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization, (NCAM), in Kwara State, the Nigerian Metallurgical Development Centre (NMDC) in Jos-Plateau State and a former member of Nigeria Industrial Policy and Competitiveness Advisory Council under the Office of the Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

9. He has contributed immensely to the development of education through his regularly Endowment Funds to tertiary institutions, electrification and provision of potable water to rural communities, donation to the federal and state governments respectively in the COVID-19 intervention scheme, supports to victims of natural disasters to mention but few.

10. He has mentored over 200 Nigerians and Foreigners in the act of business, he won over 350 awards and laurels both in Nigeria and diaspora for his outstanding contributions to economic growth, job creation, promotion of unity, peace and harmony in the society by several government agencies, private organizations, student associations, community groups, religion and professional bodies.

11. Member of Order of Niger (MON), a National Honour conferred on him by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR in October 2022.

He is a patriotic Nigerian with strong vision and belief that Nigerians may be dark in colour but not dark in brain. Therefore, as a Nigerian, he will continue to do his best for the nation and her citizenry. Dr. Kamoru Ibitoye is married to Dr. Bolanle Iyadunni Yusuf and the marriage is blessed with wonderful children.

PROFILE OF DR. IYADUNNI BOLANLE YUSUF B.A (Ed), M.Ed, FAIE, FCEM– ERELU OF OMU-ARAN

Alhaja (Dr.) Bolanle Iyadunni Yusuf was born to the family of late Mr. S.A. Abioye, a lecturer and late Mrs. V. Abioye, a nursing sister of Ikoja Compound, Omu-Aran, in the Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

She began her educational career at St. John’s Primary School, Sabo Oke, Ilorin and later proceeded to Cherubim & Seraphim College, Ilorin, Kwara State for her secondary school education.

She was admitted into the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin where she obtained National Certificate in Education (NCE) in English/Government.

In a quest to further her studies, she proceeded to the prestigious University of Ilorin, to study English Language Education and obtained a Bachelor of Education (B.A.Ed.) and later to the great University of Lagos where she obtained a Master Degree in Educational Administration.

She also obtained a Masters Class Certificate in Business Management and Leadership from the London Graduate School and bagged Doctoral Degree (Honoris Causa) in Business Management from the Commonwealth University, United Kingdom.

With these certifications and many more honorary awards of local, national and international status, Bolanle Yusuf has continued to demonstrate high level of interpersonal and entrepreneurial skills in the society through her direct and indirect involvements in many businesses both locally and internationally.

She is married to Alhaji (Dr.) Kamoru Ibitoye Yusuf, MON, FCSN, FNMS, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of KAM Industries Nigeria Limited and its sister companies and subsidiaries worldwide. Their union is blessed with children.
